About the project
Groove Box is a web app for making and playing music in real time. You add several tracks (drums, synths), set each step (note, on or off, volume), and control the tempo and the swing.
The project uses Nuxt 3, Pinia for a modular architecture, UnoCSS for a light design, and the Web Audio API to generate and shape the sound. The whole thing aims for smooth performance and a pleasant feel.
Features
-
Modular architecture with Pinia
Each part of the app (audio engine, sequencer, tracks) has its own Pinia store. Responsibilities stay separate, and adding an effect or an instrument does not mean rewriting everything.
-
Web Audio API and sound generation
Oscillators, filters and samples play in real time. The lead instruments follow the pitch of each step, and the drums play preloaded audio files.
-
Tempo, swing and saving
You adjust the tempo and the swing to give a sequence its groove. Patterns are saved automatically with Pinia PersistedState, and come back even after you close the app.
